A practical Wellesley donation worksheet
Area rug donation planner
A rug, runner and fitted carpet are different donation questions. Record the actual length and width and identify a separate rug pad. Describe the material if known and whether the rug lies flat or has curled or damaged edges.

Before recipient review
Show the whole surface, the backing and close views of wear. Disclose odors, pet exposure, staining, moisture and any pest concern. A photograph of the top alone is not enough to describe condition. Ask the receiving organization whether it considers rugs at all.
Prepare only as agreed
Keep the rug dry and ask how the recipient or transporter wants it prepared. Do not fold a stiff rug to force it into a vehicle or hide damage inside a roll. If reuse is declined, check current local instructions for the particular material rather than assuming the general textile route applies.
